Emma Beddoes overturned the seedings and a two game deficit to lift the Reliable Networks BSPA Grand Prix title at the Roehampton Club in SE London.
Top seed Sarah-Jane Perry got off to a solid start using her trademark drops and boasts to work Beddoes around the court. The tactic paid off early on as she opened up a two nil lead but seemed to then actually help her fellow England international as Beddoes started to move fluidly and get into a rhythm, beginning to make inroads into the deficit.
Beddoes pulled one back and started to deliver crisp drives into the corners that had Perry both scrambling to stay in the rally and increasingly getting frustrated with her own game and shot selection.
Having tied the match up at two-apiece there only ever was one winner in the decider as Beddoes raced to 6/0 and 9/3 before clinching the title.
She was clearly delighted with the win: “I’l like to thank the Roehampton Club and Reliable Networks for getting the finals back on the calendar after an absence of four years. Now I’m heading up to Glasgow for some doubles practice then most importantly a holiday after a long hard season!”
